Especially, this interdisciplinary seminar aims at providing a platform for young researchers and artists to present their work and to discuss their thoughts and ideas with colleagues, senior experts and professors. In the formats of lectures, site-specific workshops and debates, different theoretical, methodological approaches, as well as practical examples will be discussed and related to urban, particularly public, spaces and their versatile interpretations. Moving through the urban space of Budapest, the seminar will take place at different venues and sites of the city. “Each day of the proceedings will be focused around a central theme with the
following provisional titles: Relational Noise Situational Listening
Operative Ambience. Tuned City is a project researching relations between sound and space in the urban context. The first edition was in Berlin in 2008 and then in Tallinn
and Nürnberg. Q-O2 workspace has invited Tuned City in 2013 to create a
Brussels edition of this event. Tuned City presents artistic work and
theoretical approaches derived from critical preoccupations with sound in
the context of urban and architectonic situations with particular emphasis
on innovative approaches to notions of ’sound’ and ‘listening’.” Continue reading

»meinstein« will be a memorial from Neuköllners to Neuköllners in Berlin. The idea is to create a colorful mosaic surface, a »demographischen Pflaster« built by stones representing the regional and social range of variety of the current local urban milieu. This joint-project of the artist, Nadia Kaabi-Linke and the Architekturbüro el:ch is one element in the local municipality’s vision to start a new initiative for the renewal of Karl Marx Straße. By establishing a strategic framework program [Aktion! Karl-Marx-Straße] in 2010, the of city-management aims at strengthening the economic and cultural potential and the central public space position of the district’s main boulevard.
